Eligibility & Examination Detail

The recruitment categories and their main duties are:

Soldier (General Duty)

Soldier (General Duty) are the backbone of the army and consist mainly of fighting troops apart from other trades. You could be enrolled into Arms or Services. The duties will be as under:-

Arms. In Arms you could join the Infantry, Artillery, Armoured Corps, Engineers or Army Air Defence (AAD) as fighting troops, drivers, operators, gunners etc and many other General Duties.

Services. In Services you could be enrolled into Army Service Corps (ASC), Army Ordnance Corps (AOC), Army Medical Corps (AMC) on General Duties, operators, drivers etc.

Soldier Technical

The army has weapons, vehicles, equipment which are required to be operated and maintained. Army requires candidates with a science background and aptitude for electrical, mechanical and other technical fields.

Soldier Clerk / Store Keeper Technical / Inventory Management

The army is a large organisation with each unit consisting of 600-1000 personnel and holding a large inventory of stores and equipment. There is a requirement of clerical staff to maintain the inventory, carryout documentation of personnel, book keeping and other routine correspondence. Thus there is requirement of candidates conversant in English and Maths/Book Keeping.

Soldier Nursing Assistant

The Army has its own hospitals and polyclinics. All kinds of specialists are present in Army Hospitals. Each hospital and polyclinic requires Nursing Assistants to assist the doctors, look after the patients, work in the Operation Theatres, account for medicines in the medical stores and administer first aid. We thus require dedicated candidates with a science background with Biology to be enrolled as Soldier Nursing Assistant.

Soldier Tradesman

Each unit and Headquarters (HQ) of the Army is self-contained in maintaining itself in all respects. It is like a society which is fully self-sustaining and not dependent on outside help. Each unit has a strength of 600-1000 personnel who live within a compound and get all support from within that compound/society. Thus each unit has its own cook house, stores, living quarters and lines, offices, vehicles and equipment. There is thus a requirement of a lot of support staff to run various institutes and to maintain the unit area

Education Havildar

The Army has soldiers who come from Class VIII/X backgrounds. There is a requirement to further enhance the education standards of these soldiers. Also certain specialist education / military training is imparted to the soldiers during their service for which we require MA/MSc/ B.Ed students who are well educated and have teaching abilities.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION AND AGE CRITERIA FOR VARIOUS ARMY ENTRIES BELOW OFFICERS' RANK

(2) Soldier (Technical) (Technical Arms, Artillery, Army Air Defence) (a) Sol Tech 10+2/Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with 50% marks in aggregate and 40% marks in each subject.
(b) Sol Tech (Aviation & Ammunition Examiner) 10 +2 / Intermediate exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with 50% marks in aggregate and 40% marks in each subject.
OR
Three years Diploma in Engg (Mechanical /Electrical/ Automobiles/ Computer Science Mechanical Engg and Electronic & Instrumentation Engg) from a recognized Polytechnic Institute.
17 ½ - 23 Yrs.
(3) Soldier Clerk / Store Keeper Technical (All Arms) (I) Should have secured 50% marks In each subject and 60% marks in aggregate in class XII.
(II) Should have studied English and Maths/Accts/ Book Keeping in Class XII or X and should have secured min 50% marks in each of these subjects, whether studied in Class XII or X.
(III) Even if a candidate is a graduate or has a higher qualification percentage marks scored in Class XII would be applicable towards his eligibility.
17 ½ - 23 Yrs.
(4) Soldier Nursing Assistant (Army Medical Corps)

10+2 / Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with Minimum 50% marks in aggregate and minimum 40% in each subject.
OR
In case the candidate has a BSc Degree with (Botany / Zoology / Bio-Science) and English, the stipulation of percentage in Class-XII is waived off. However, the candidate should have studied all the four specified subjects in Class XII also.

17 ½ - 23 Yrs.
(5) Soldier Tradesmen (All Arms except Syce, Mess Keeper and House Keeper ) 10th / ITI  17 ½ - 23 Yrs.
(6) Soldier Tradesmen (Syce, Mess Keeper and House Keeper) 8th Pass 17 ½ - 23 Yrs.
(7) Survey Automated Cartographer (Engineers) BA/BSc with Maths. Must have also passed 12thclass (10+2) or equivalent with Maths and Science as main subjects. 20-25 Yrs.
(8) Junior Commissioned Officer Religious Teacher (All Arms) Graduate in any discipline. In addition requisite qualification in his own religious denomination. 27-34 Yrs.
(9) Junior Commissioned Officer Catering (Army Service Corps) 10+2 or equivalent exam and Diploma / Certificate Course of a duration of one year or more in Cookery Hotel Management and Catering Technology from a recognized University / Food Craft Institute. AICTE recognition is not mandatory. 21-27 Yrs.
(10) Havildar Education (Army Education Corps) Group X - MA / MSc / MCA or BA / BSc / BCA / BSc (IT) with B Ed

SELECTION PROCEDURE

  • Candidatesto have minimum height as prescribed for that particular region. Minimum height for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan is 170 cm.
  • Chest 77 cm with minimum expansion of 5 cm.
  • Weight as per age and height

Candidates should pass the following physical tests:

  • 1 mile race within 5 min 45 sec (60 marks) to 6 min 10 sec (24 marks).
  • Pull ups between 6 (16 marks) and 10 (40 marks)
  • Balance and 9’ ditch: these need to be qualified but no marks allotted for these tests.
  • Candidate should have good robust physique and good mental health.
  • Should have normal hearing with each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes and 6/6 eye sight.
  • Should be able to recognise red and green colour and should have colour vision of CP III.
  • Should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele, varicocele or piles

RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. Fee will be paid maximum in two instalments. Atleast 70% fee to be paid at the time of admission and balance 30% within 1 to 2 months from start of the course.
  2. Fee once paid will not be refunded or adjusted under any circumstance.
  3. Filling in of exam application forms and their submission to the exam conducting authority will be the responsibility of student himself.
  4. Student will be responsible for his physical, medical and educational eligibility for a particular course before taking admission. No fee in full or part will be refunded once the student has taken admission in the academy.
  5. Change in address and contact No if any to be notified to the office immediately on occurrence.
  6. Student enrolled with DDA will provide his entrance examination roll number to office immediately on receipt of his admit card from the exam conducting authority.
  7. DDA reserves its right to make any alteration in its program/fees without any prior notice to anybody.
  8. Students will follow all rules, regulations and instructions of the institute and will stay within its discipline parameters.
  9. Student found involved in any indiscipline or misconduct will be expelled from the academy without any notice or refund of fee.
  10. DDA guides, coaches and trains the students for defence forces’ entries but does not promise or guarantee the jobs.
